Minimalist Birds on Gold – A Textured Acrylic Painting

A minimalist acrylic painting featuring two black bird silhouettes on a textured gold and white background. Created using texture techniques to evoke calm, balance, and quiet connection.

Materials Used:

  • Canvas board – 12 X 9 inch
  • Acrylic colors – Metallic gold, Titanium White & Black
  • Acrylic Wall putty

Things I learned:

When I first applied wall putty on the board, it left patterns and texture, but I wanted a smooth, finished background. The consistency of the wall putty really matters.

One should try to develop the right technique to achieve a smooth background.

Before applying color, lightly sprinkle water over the dried wall putty. This helps prevent the surface from absorbing too much paint.

Apply multiple coats of gold color to get more shine.

I used a pigment liner to outline the birds, but you can experiment with other tools as well. In my case, while outlining, the wall putty and gold paint started coming off on the tip of the pen. I’m not sure if that means my gold paint hadn’t dried properly. I’d love to hear about your experience if you’ve tried something similar.

Here is how I made it and how it looks at the end.

I hope you enjoyed it. Keep exploring, and I’d love to hear about your experience.

THAT’S IT
